2. בִּשְׁנַת שֶׁבַע לְיֵהוּא מָלַךְ
יְהוֹאָשׁ וְאַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִם וְשֵׁם אִמּוֹ צִבְיָה מִבְּאֵר שָׁבַע.

Jehoash began to reign in the seventh year of Jehu, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.
3. וַיַּעַשׂ
יְהוֹאָשׁ הַיָּשָׁר בְּעֵינֵי
יְהֹוָהי״י כׇּל יָמָיו אֲשֶׁר הוֹרָהוּ יְהוֹיָדָע הַכֹּהֵן.

And Jehoash did that which was right in the eyes of Hashem all his days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
4. וַיֹּאמֶר
יְהוֹאָשׁ אֶל הַכֹּהֲנִים כֹּל כֶּסֶף הַקֳּדָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר יוּבָא בֵית
יְהֹוָהי״י כֶּסֶף עוֹבֵר אִישׁ כֶּסֶף נַפְשׁוֹת עֶרְכּוֹ כׇּל כֶּסֶף אֲשֶׁר יַעֲלֶה עַל לֶב אִישׁ לְהָבִיא בֵּית
יְהֹוָהי״י.

And Jehoash said to the priests, "All the money of the sacred things that is brought into the house of Hashem, the money from the census, the money of the persons according to their value, all the money that comes into any man's heart to bring into the house of Hashem,
5. וַיְהִי בִּשְׁנַת עֶשְׂרִים וְשָׁלֹשׁ שָׁנָה לַמֶּלֶךְ
יְהוֹאָשׁ לֹא חִזְּקוּ הַכֹּהֲנִים אֶת בֶּדֶק הַבָּיִת.

But it was so, that in the twenty-third year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.
6. וַיִּקְרָא הַמֶּלֶךְ
יְהוֹאָשׁ לִיהוֹיָדָע הַכֹּהֵן וְלַכֹּהֲנִים וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם מַדּוּעַ אֵינְכֶם מְחַזְּקִים אֶת בֶּדֶק הַבָּיִת וְעַתָּה אַל תִּקְחוּ כֶסֶף מֵאֵת מַכָּרֵיכֶם כִּי לְבֶדֶק הַבַּיִת תִּתְּנֻהוּ.

Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest and for the other priests, and he said to them, "Why do you not repair the breaches of the house? Now therefore do not take money from your acquaintances, but deliver it for the breaches of the house."
7. וַיִּקַּח
יְהוֹאָשׁ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה אֵת כׇּל הַקֳּדָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר הִקְדִּישׁוּ יְהוֹשָׁפָט וִיהוֹרָם וַאֲחַזְיָהוּ אֲבֹתָיו מַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה וְאֶת קֳדָשָׁיו וְאֵת כׇּל הַזָּהָב הַנִּמְצָא בְּאֹצְרוֹת בֵּית
יְהֹוָהי״י וּבֵית הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיִּשְׁלַח לַחֲזָאֵל מֶלֶךְ אֲרָם וַיַּעַל מֵעַל יְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם.

And Jehoash king of Judah took all the sacred things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own sacred things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of Hashem and of the king's house, and he sent it to Hazael king of Aram; and he went away from Jerusalem.
8. בִּשְׁנַת שְׁלֹשִׁים וָשֶׁבַע שָׁנָה לְיוֹאָשׁ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה מָלַךְ
יְהוֹאָשׁ בֶּן יְהוֹאָחָז עַל יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּשֹׁמְרוֹן שֵׁשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה.

In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and he reigned sixteen years.
9. וַיָּשׇׁב
יְהוֹאָשׁ בֶּן יְהוֹאָחָז וַיִּקַּח אֶת הֶעָרִים מִיַּד בֶּן הֲדַד בֶּן חֲזָאֵל אֲשֶׁר לָקַח מִיַּד יְהוֹאָחָז אָבִיו בַּמִּלְחָמָה שָׁלֹשׁ פְּעָמִים הִכָּהוּ יוֹאָשׁ וַיָּשֶׁב אֶת עָרֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.

And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took back out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Joash smote him three times and recovered the cities of Israel.
10. אָז שָׁלַח אֲמַצְיָה מַלְאָכִים אֶל
יְהוֹאָשׁ בֶּן יְהוֹאָחָז בֶּן יֵהוּא מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר לְכָה נִתְרָאֶה פָנִים.

Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, "Come, let us meet face to face."
11. וַיִּשְׁלַח
יְהוֹאָשׁ מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל אֲמַצְיָהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה לֵאמֹר הַחוֹחַ אֲשֶׁר בַּלְּבָנוֹן שָׁלַח אֶל הָאֶרֶז אֲשֶׁר בַּלְּבָנוֹן לֵאמֹר תְּנָה אֶת בִּתְּךָ לִבְנִי לְאִשָּׁה וַתַּעֲבֹר חַיַּת הַשָּׂדֶה אֲשֶׁר בַּלְּבָנוֹן וַתִּרְמֹס אֶת הַחוֹחַ.

And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, "The thorn bush that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, 'Give your daughter to my son as a wife'. Then the wild beasts that were in Lebanon passed by and trod down the thorn bush.
12. וְלֹא שָׁמַע אֲמַצְיָהוּ וַיַּעַל
יְהוֹאָשׁ מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּתְרָאוּ פָנִים הוּא וַאֲמַצְיָהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה בְּבֵית שֶׁמֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר לִיהוּדָה.

But Amaziah would not hear. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah met face to face at Beth-shemesh, which belongs to Judah.
13-14. וְאֵת אֲמַצְיָהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה בֶּן
יְהוֹאָשׁ בֶּן אֲחַזְיָהוּ תָּפַשׂ
יְהוֹאָשׁ מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּבֵית שָׁמֶשׁ [וַיָּבֹא] (ויבאו) יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִם וַיִּפְרֹץ בְּחוֹמַת יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִם בְּשַׁעַר אֶפְרַיִם עַד שַׁעַר הַפִּנָּה אַרְבַּע מֵאוֹת אַמָּה.

And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and he came to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
15. וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי
יְהוֹאָשׁ אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה וּגְבוּרָתוֹ וַאֲשֶׁר נִלְחַם עִם אֲמַצְיָהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה הֲלֹא הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16. וַיִּשְׁכַּב
יְהוֹאָשׁ עִם אֲבֹתָיו וַיִּקָּבֵר בְּשֹׁמְרוֹן עִם מַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּמְלֹךְ יָרׇבְעָם בְּנוֹ תַּחְתָּיו.

And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
17. וַיְחִי אֲמַצְיָהוּ בֶן יוֹאָשׁ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה אַחֲרֵי מוֹת
יְהוֹאָשׁ בֶּן יְהוֹאָחָז מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל חֲמֵשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה.

And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
