1. וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בְּחַר לָנוּ אֲנָשִׁים וְצֵא הִלָּחֵם בַּעֲמָלֵק מָחָר אָנֹכִי נִצָּב עַל רֹאשׁ הַגִּבְעָה וּמַטֵּה הָאֱלֹהִים בְּיָדִי.

Moshe said to Yehoshua, "Choose men, and go out to fight against Amalek tomorrow. I will stand at the top of the hill with the staff of Hashem in my hand."
2. וַיַּעַשׂ

יְהֹוָהי״י בְּיָדֵנוּ אֶת כׇּל הָאָרֶץ וְגַם נָמֹגוּ כׇּל יֹשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ מִפָּנֵינוּ.

And they said to Joshua, "Truly Hashem has delivered into our hands all the land; and moreover all the inhabitants of the land do melt away before us."
35. וַיַּשְׁכֵּם
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בַּבֹּקֶר וַיִּסְעוּ מֵהַשִּׁטִּים וַיָּבֹאוּ עַד הַיַּרְדֵּן הוּא וְכׇל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיָּלִנוּ שָׁם טֶרֶם יַעֲבֹרוּ.

And Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, "Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass on before the people." And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.

And Hashem said to Joshua, "This day will I begin to magnify you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.

And the Children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as Hashem spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the Children of Israel; and they carried them over with them to the place where they lodged and laid them down there.
46. וּשְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה אֲבָנִים הֵקִים
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בְּתוֹךְ הַיַּרְדֵּן תַּחַת מַצַּב רַגְלֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים נֹשְׂאֵי אֲרוֹן הַבְּרִית וַיִּהְיוּ שָׁם עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה.

Joshua also set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests that bore the ark of the covenant stood; and they are there to this day.

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ לְדַבֵּר אֶל הָעָם כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה מֹשֶׁה אֶת
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וַיְמַהֲרוּ הָעָם וַיַּעֲבֹרוּ.

And the priests that bore the ark stood in the midst of the Jordan, until everything was finished that Hashem commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua; and the people hastened and passed over.
49. בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא גִּדַּל
יְהֹוָהי״י אֶת
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בְּעֵינֵי כׇּל יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּרְאוּ אֹתוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר יָרְאוּ אֶת מֹשֶׁה כׇּל יְמֵי חַיָּיו.

On that day Hashem magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.
51. וַיְצַו
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶת הַכֹּהֲנִים לֵאמֹר עֲלוּ מִן הַיַּרְדֵּן.

Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, "Come up out of the Jordan."
52. וְאֵת שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה הָאֲבָנִים הָאֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר לָקְחוּ מִן הַיַּרְדֵּן הֵקִים
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בַּגִּלְגָּל.

And those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, Joshua set up in Gilgal.
53. בָּעֵת הַהִיא אָמַר
יְהֹוָהי״י אֶל
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ עֲשֵׂה לְךָ חַרְבוֹת צֻרִים וְשׁוּב מֹל אֶת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל שֵׁנִית.

At that time Hashem said to Joshua, "Make knives of flint and circumcise again the Children of Israel, the second time."
54. וַיַּעַשׂ לוֹ
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ חַרְבוֹת צֻרִים וַיָּמׇל אֶת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל גִּבְעַת הָעֲרָלוֹת.

And Joshua made knives of flint and circumcised the Children of Israel at Gibeath-Ha'araloth.
55. וְזֶה הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר מָל
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ כׇּל הָעָם הַיֹּצֵא מִמִּצְרַיִם הַזְּכָרִים כֹּל אַנְשֵׁי הַמִּלְחָמָה מֵתוּ בַמִּדְבָּר בַּדֶּרֶךְ בְּצֵאתָם מִמִּצְרָיִם.

And this is the reason why Joshua circumcised them: all the people that came forth out of Egypt, that were males, all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came forth out of Egypt.
56. וְאֶת בְּנֵיהֶם הֵקִים תַּחְתָּם אֹתָם מָל
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ כִּי עֲרֵלִים הָיוּ כִּי לֹא מָלוּ אוֹתָם בַּדָּרֶךְ.

And He raised up their children in their stead; they Joshua circumcised, for they were uncircumcised, because they had not been circumcised by the way.
57. וַיֹּאמֶר

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ הַיּוֹם גַּלּוֹתִי אֶת חֶרְפַּת מִצְרַיִם מֵעֲלֵיכֶם וַיִּקְרָא שֵׁם הַמָּקוֹם הַהוּא גִּלְגָּל עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה.

And Hashem said to Joshua, "This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from upon you." Therefore the name of that place was called Gilgal, to this day.
58-59. וַיְהִי בִּהְיוֹת
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּירִיחוֹ וַיִּשָּׂא עֵינָיו וַיַּרְא וְהִנֵּה אִישׁ עֹמֵד לְנֶגְדּוֹ וְחַרְבּוֹ שְׁלוּפָה בְּיָדוֹ וַיֵּלֶךְ
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֵלָיו וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ הֲלָנוּ אַתָּה אִם לְצָרֵינוּ.

And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand; and Joshua went to him, and said to him, "Are you for us or for our adversaries?"
60. וַיֹּאמֶר לֹא כִּי אֲנִי שַׂר צְבָא
יְהֹוָהי״י עַתָּה בָאתִי וַיִּפֹּל
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶל פָּנָיו אַרְצָה וַיִּשְׁתָּחוּ וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ מָה אֲדֹנִי מְדַבֵּר אֶל עַבְדּוֹ.

And he said, "No, but I am captain of the host of Hashem; I have now come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and bowed down, and said to him, "What does my lord say to his servant?"
61-62. וַיֹּאמֶר שַׂר צְבָא

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ שַׁל נַעַלְךָ מֵעַל רַגְלֶךָ כִּי הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה עֹמֵד עָלָיו קֹדֶשׁ הוּא וַיַּעַשׂ
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ כֵּן.

And the captain of Hashem's host said to Joshua, "Take off your shoe from off your foot; for the place where you stand is holy." And Joshua did so.
63. וַיֹּאמֶר
יְהֹוָהי״י אֶל
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ רְאֵה נָתַתִּי בְיָדְךָ אֶת יְרִיחוֹ וְאֶת מַלְכָּהּ גִּבּוֹרֵי הֶחָיִל.

And Hashem said to Joshua, "See, I have given into your hand Jericho and its king, even the mighty men of valor.
64. וַיִּקְרָא
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן נוּן אֶל הַכֹּהֲנִים וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם שְׂאוּ אֶת אֲרוֹן הַבְּרִית וְשִׁבְעָה כֹהֲנִים יִשְׂאוּ שִׁבְעָה שׁוֹפְרוֹת יוֹבְלִים לִפְנֵי אֲרוֹן

And Joshua, the son of Nun, called the priests and said to them, "Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven rams' horns before the ark of Hashem."

And it was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests bearing the seven rams' horns before Hashem passed on and blew with the horns; and the ark of the covenant of Hashem followed them.
66. וְאֶת הָעָם צִוָּה
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ לֵאמֹר לֹא תָרִיעוּ וְלֹא תַשְׁמִיעוּ אֶת קוֹלְכֶם וְלֹא יֵצֵא מִפִּיכֶם דָּבָר עַד יוֹם אׇמְרִי אֲלֵיכֶם הָרִיעוּ וַהֲרִיעֹתֶם.

And Joshua commanded the people, saying, "You shall not shout or let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then you shall shout."
67. וַיַּשְׁכֵּם
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בַּבֹּקֶר וַיִּשְׂאוּ הַכֹּהֲנִים אֶת אֲרוֹן

And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of Hashem.
68. וַיְהִי בַּפַּעַם הַשְּׁבִיעִית תָּקְעוּ הַכֹּהֲנִים בַּשּׁוֹפָרוֹת וַיֹּאמֶר
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶל הָעָם הָרִיעוּ כִּי נָתַן
יְהֹוָהי״י לָכֶם אֶת הָעִיר.

And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the horns, that Joshua said to the people, "Shout, for Hashem has given you the city.
69. וְלִשְׁנַיִם הָאֲנָשִׁים הַמְרַגְּלִים אֶת הָאָרֶץ אָמַר
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בֹּאוּ בֵּית הָאִשָּׁה הַזּוֹנָה וְהוֹצִיאוּ מִשָּׁם אֶת הָאִשָּׁה וְאֶת כׇּל אֲשֶׁר לָהּ כַּאֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּעְתֶּם לָהּ.

And Joshua said to the two men that had spied out the land, "Go into the harlot's house, and bring out from there the woman and all that she has, as you swore to her."
70-71. וְאֶת רָחָב הַזּוֹנָה וְאֶת בֵּית אָבִיהָ וְאֶת כׇּל אֲשֶׁר לָהּ הֶחֱיָה
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וַתֵּשֶׁב בְּקֶרֶב יִשְׂרָאֵל עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה כִּי הֶחְבִּיאָה אֶת הַמַּלְאָכִים אֲשֶׁר שָׁלַח
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ לְרַגֵּל אֶת יְרִיחוֹ.

But Rahab the harlot, and her father's household, and all that she had, Joshua kept alive. She dwelled in the midst of Israel, to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
72. וַיַּשְׁבַּע
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בָּעֵת הַהִיא לֵאמֹר אָרוּר הָאִישׁ לִפְנֵי
יְהֹוָהי״י אֲשֶׁר יָקוּם וּבָנָה אֶת הָעִיר הַזֹּאת אֶת יְרִיחוֹ בִּבְכֹרוֹ יְיַסְּדֶנָּה וּבִצְעִירוֹ יַצִּיב דְּלָתֶיהָ.

And Joshua charged the people with an oath at that time, saying, "Cursed be the man before Hashem, that rises up and builds this city, Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn he shall lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he shall set up its gates."
73. וַיְהִי
יְהֹוָהי״י אֶת
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וַיְהִי שׇׁמְעוֹ בְּכׇל הָאָרֶץ.

So Hashem was with Joshua; and his fame was in all the land.
74. וַיִּשְׁלַח
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֲנָשִׁים מִירִיחוֹ הָעַי אֲשֶׁר עִם בֵּית אָוֶן מִקֶּדֶם לְבֵית אֵל וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם לֵאמֹר עֲלוּ וְרַגְּלוּ אֶת הָאָרֶץ וַיַּעֲלוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים וַיְרַגְּלוּ אֶת הָעָי.

And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth-Aven, on the east side of Beth-el, and spoke to them, saying, "Go up and spy out the land." And the men went up and spied out Ai.
75. וַיָּשֻׁבוּ אֶל
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו אַל יַעַל כׇּל הָעָם כְּאַלְפַּיִם אִישׁ אוֹ כִּשְׁלֹשֶׁת אֲלָפִים אִישׁ יַעֲלוּ וְיַכּוּ אֶת הָעָי אַל תְּיַגַּע שָׁמָּה אֶת כׇּל הָעָם כִּי מְעַט הֵמָּה.

And they returned to Joshua and said to him, "Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai. Do not make all the people toil there for they are but few."
76. וַיִּקְרַע
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ שִׂמְלֹתָיו וַיִּפֹּל עַל פָּנָיו אַרְצָה לִפְנֵי אֲרוֹן
יְהֹוָהי״י עַד הָעֶרֶב הוּא וְזִקְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּעֲלוּ עָפָר עַל רֹאשָׁם.

And Joshua rent his clothes and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of Hashem until the evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust upon their heads.
77. וַיֹּאמֶר
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֲהָהּ אֲדֹנָי יֱ
־הֹוִה לָמָה הֵעֲבַרְתָּ הַעֲבִיר אֶת הָעָם הַזֶּה אֶת הַיַּרְדֵּן לָתֵת אֹתָנוּ בְּיַד הָאֱמֹרִי לְהַאֲבִידֵנוּ וְלוּ הוֹאַלְנוּ וַנֵּשֶׁב בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן.

And Joshua said, "Alas, Hashem, God, why have You at all brought this people over the Jordan to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to cause us to perish? Would that we had been content and dwelled beyond the Jordan!

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ קֻם לָךְ לָמָּה זֶּה אַתָּה נֹפֵל עַל פָּנֶיךָ.

And Hashem said to Joshua, "Get up; why, now, have you fallen upon your face?
79. וַיַּשְׁכֵּם
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בַּבֹּקֶר וַיַּקְרֵב אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל לִשְׁבָטָיו וַיִּלָּכֵד שֵׁבֶט יְהוּדָה.

So Joshua rose up early in the morning and brought Israel near by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken.
80. וַיֹּאמֶר
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶל עָכָן בְּנִי שִׂים נָא כָבוֹד לַ
יהֹוָהי״י אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְתֶן לוֹ תוֹדָה וְהַגֶּד נָא לִי מֶה עָשִׂיתָ אַל תְּכַחֵד מִמֶּנִּי.

And Joshua said to Achan, "My son, give, please, glory to Hashem, the God of Israel, and make confession to Him; and tell me now what you have done; hide nothing from me."
81. וַיַּעַן עָכָן אֶת
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וַיֹּאמַר אׇמְנָה אָנֹכִי חָטָאתִי לַ
יהֹוָהי״י אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְכָזֹאת וְכָזֹאת עָשִׂיתִי.

And Achan answered Joshua and said, "Of a truth, I have sinned against Hashem, the God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done.
82. וַיִּשְׁלַח
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ מַלְאָכִים וַיָּרֻצוּ הָאֹהֱלָה וְהִנֵּה טְמוּנָה בְּאׇהֳלוֹ וְהַכֶּסֶף תַּחְתֶּיהָ.

So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and, behold, it was hidden in his tent, and the silver under it.
83. וַיִּקָּחוּם מִתּוֹךְ הָאֹהֶל וַיְבִאוּם אֶל
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וְאֶל כׇּל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּצִּקֻם לִפְנֵי
יְהֹוָהי״י.

And they took them from the midst of the tent and brought them to Joshua and to all the Children of Israel; and they laid them down before Hashem.
84. וַיִּקַּח
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶת עָכָן בֶּן זֶרַח וְאֶת הַכֶּסֶף וְאֶת הָאַדֶּרֶת וְאֶת לְשׁוֹן הַזָּהָב וְאֶת בָּנָיו וְאֶת בְּנֹתָיו וְאֶת שׁוֹרוֹ וְאֶת חֲמֹרוֹ וְאֶת צֹאנוֹ וְאֶת אׇהֳלוֹ וְאֶת כׇּל אֲשֶׁר לוֹ וְכׇל יִשְׂרָאֵל עִמּוֹ וַיַּעֲלוּ אֹתָם עֵמֶק עָכוֹר.

And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan, the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the mantle, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had, and they brought them up to the valley of Achor.
85. וַיֹּאמֶר
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ מֶה עֲכַרְתָּנוּ יַעְכׇּרְךָ
יְהֹוָהי״י בַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה וַיִּרְגְּמוּ אֹתוֹ כׇל יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶבֶן וַיִּשְׂרְפוּ אֹתָם בָּאֵשׁ וַיִּסְקְלוּ אֹתָם בָּאֲבָנִים.

And Joshua said, "Why have you troubled us? Hashem shall trouble you this day." And all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire, and stoned them with stones.
86. וַיֹּאמֶר
יְהֹוָהי״י אֶל
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אַל תִּירָא וְאַל תֵּחָת קַח עִמְּךָ אֵת כׇּל עַם הַמִּלְחָמָה וְקוּם עֲלֵה הָעָי רְאֵה נָתַתִּי בְיָדְךָ אֶת מֶלֶךְ הָעַי וְאֶת עַמּוֹ וְאֶת עִירוֹ וְאֶת אַרְצוֹ.

And Hashem said to Joshua, "Do not fear and do not be dismayed. Take all the people of war with you, and arise, go up to Ai. See, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land.
87-88. וַיָּקׇם
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וְכׇל עַם הַמִּלְחָמָה לַעֲלוֹת הָעָי וַיִּבְחַר
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ שְׁלֹשִׁים אֶלֶף אִישׁ גִּבּוֹרֵי הַחַיִל וַיִּשְׁלָחֵם לָיְלָה.

So Joshua and all the people of war arose to go up to Ai; and Joshua chose out thirty thousand men, the mighty men of valor, and sent them forth by night.
89-90. וַיִּשְׁלָחֵם
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וַיֵּלְכוּ אֶל הַמַּאְרָב וַיֵּשְׁבוּ בֵּין בֵּית אֵל וּבֵין הָעַי מִיָּם לָעָי וַיָּלֶן
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בַּלַּיְלָה הַהוּא בְּתוֹךְ הָעָם.

And Joshua sent them forth; and they went to the place of ambush and abode between Beth-el and Ai, on the west side of Ai. But Joshua lodged that night among the people.
91. וַיַּשְׁכֵּם
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בַּבֹּקֶר וַיִּפְקֹד אֶת הָעָם וַיַּעַל הוּא וְזִקְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לִפְנֵי הָעָם הָעָי.

And Joshua rose up early in the morning and numbered the people and went up, he and the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai.
92. וַיָּשִׂימוּ הָעָם אֶת כׇּל הַמַּחֲנֶה אֲשֶׁר מִצְּפוֹן לָעִיר וְאֶת עֲקֵבוֹ מִיָּם לָעִיר וַיֵּלֶךְ
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בַּלַּיְלָה הַהוּא בְּתוֹךְ הָעֵמֶק.

So the people stationed themselves, all the camp that was on the north of the city, and its rear lying in wait on the west of the city; and Joshua went that night into the midst of the valley.
93. וַיִּנָּגְעוּ
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וְכׇל יִשְׂרָאֵל לִפְנֵיהֶם וַיָּנֻסוּ דֶּרֶךְ הַמִּדְבָּר.

And Joshua and all Israel made as if they were beaten before them, and they fled by the way of the wilderness.
94. וַיִּזָּעֲקוּ כׇּל הָעָם אֲשֶׁר [בָּעַי] (בעיר) לִרְדֹּף אַחֲרֵיהֶם וַיִּרְדְּפוּ אַחֲרֵי
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וַיִּנָּתְקוּ מִן הָעִיר.

And all the people that were in Ai were called together to pursue after them. And they pursued after Joshua, and were drawn away from the city.
95-96. וַיֹּאמֶר
יְהֹוָהי״י אֶל
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ נְטֵה בַּכִּידוֹן אֲשֶׁר בְּיָדְךָ אֶל הָעַי כִּי בְיָדְךָ אֶתְּנֶנָּה וַיֵּט
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בַּכִּידוֹן אֲשֶׁר בְּיָדוֹ אֶל הָעִיר.

And Hashem said to Joshua, "Stretch out the javelin that is in your hand toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand." And Joshua stretched out the javelin that was in his hand toward the city.

And afterward Joshua smote them and put them to death, and hanged them on five trees; and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.

And it came to pass at the time that the sun set, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees and cast them into the cave in which they had hidden themselves, and laid great stones on the mouth of the cave, to this very day.

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא וַיַּכֶּהָ לְפִי חֶרֶב וְאֶת מַלְכָּהּ הֶחֱרִם אוֹתָם וְאֶת כׇּל הַנֶּפֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר בָּהּ לֹא הִשְׁאִיר שָׂרִיד וַיַּעַשׂ לְמֶלֶךְ מַקֵּדָה כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה לְמֶלֶךְ יְרִיחוֹ.

And Joshua took Makkedah on that day and smote it with the edge of the sword, and its king. He utterly destroyed them and all the souls that were in it; he left none remaining. And he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.

And Hashem said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid because of them, for tomorrow at this time I will deliver them up all slain before Israel; you shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire."

So Joshua came against them, and all the people of war with him, by the waters of Merom, suddenly; and they fell upon them.

And Joshua turned back at that time and took Hazor, and he smote its king with the sword, for Hazor beforehand was the head of all those kingdoms.

And all the cities of those kings, and all their kings, Joshua took, and he smote them with the edge of the sword and utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of Hashem commanded.
148. רַק כׇּל הֶעָרִים הָעֹמְדוֹת עַל תִּלָּם לֹא שְׂרָפָם יִשְׂרָאֵל זוּלָתִי אֶת חָצוֹר לְבַדָּהּ שָׂרַף

But as for the cities that stood on their mounds, Israel burned none of them, save only Hazor; that Joshua burned.
149-150. כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וְכֵן עָשָׂה

As Hashem commanded Moses His servant, so did Moses command Joshua; and so did Joshua do. He left nothing undone of all that Hashem commanded Moses.

So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that Hashem spoke to Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land had rest from war.
157-158. וְאֵלֶּה מַלְכֵי הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר הִכָּה
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן יָמָּה מִבַּעַל גָּד בְּבִקְעַת הַלְּבָנוֹן וְעַד הָהָר הֶחָלָק הָעֹלֶה שֵׂעִירָה וַיִּתְּנָהּ

Now Joshua was old and advanced in years; and Hashem said to him, "You are old and advanced in years, and there remains yet very much land to be possessed.

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וַיִּתֵּן אֶת חֶבְרוֹן לְכָלֵב בֶּן יְפֻנֶּה לְנַחֲלָה.

And Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, for an inheritance.

יְהֹוָהי״י לִיהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶת קִרְיַת אַרְבַּע אֲבִי הָעֲנָק הִיא חֶבְרוֹן.

And to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, he gave a portion among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of Hashem to Joshua, even Kiriath-Arba, Arba being the father of Anak — which is Hebron.

And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua, the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, "Hashem commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren'. Therefore, according to the commandment of Hashem, he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ לֵאמֹר מַדּוּעַ נָתַתָּה לִּי נַחֲלָה גּוֹרָל אֶחָד וְחֶבֶל אֶחָד וַאֲנִי עַם רָב עַד אֲשֶׁר עַד כֹּה בֵּרְכַנִי

And the children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, "Why have you given me but one lot and one part for an inheritance, seeing I am a great people, because Hashem has blessed me thus far?"

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אִם עַם רַב אַתָּה עֲלֵה לְךָ הַיַּעְרָה וּבֵרֵאתָ לְךָ שָׁם בְּאֶרֶץ הַפְּרִזִּי וְהָרְפָאִים כִּי אָץ לְךָ הַר אֶפְרָיִם.

And Joshua said to them, "If you are a great people, get up to the forest, and cut down for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim; since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you."

And the men went and passed through the land, and described it by cities into seven portions in a book, and they came to Joshua to the camp at Shiloh.
171-172. וַיַּשְׁלֵךְ לָהֶם

יְהֹוָהי״י וַיְחַלֶּק שָׁם
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶת הָאָרֶץ לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כְּמַחְלְקֹתָם.

And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before Hashem; and there Joshua divided the land to the Children of Israel according to their divisions.

When they finished distributing the land for inheritance by its borders, the Children of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua, the son of Nun, in the midst of them.

וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן נוּן וְרָאשֵׁי הָאָבוֹת לְמַטּוֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּגוֹרָל בְּשִׁלֹה לִפְנֵי
יְהֹוָהי״י פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וַיְכַלּוּ מֵחַלֵּק אֶת הָאָרֶץ.

These are the inheritances which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the Children of Israel, distributed for inheritance by lot in Shiloh before Hashem, at the door of the Tent of Meeting. So they finished dividing the land.
175. וַיְדַבֵּר
יְהֹוָהי״י אֶל
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ לֵאמֹר.

Then the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites came near to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua, the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the Children of Israel.

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ לָראוּבֵנִי וְלַגָּדִי וְלַחֲצִי מַטֵּה מְנַשֶּׁה.

Then Joshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh,
178. וַיְבָרְכֵם

Now to the one half-tribe of Manasseh Moses had given inheritance in Bashan; but to the other half Joshua gave among their brethren beyond the Jordan westward. Moreover when Joshua sent them away to their tents, he blessed them,
181. וַיְהִי מִיָּמִים רַבִּים אַחֲרֵי אֲשֶׁר הֵנִיחַ

And it came to pass after many days, when Hashem had given rest to Israel from all their enemies round about, and Joshua was old and well advanced in years,

that Joshua called for all Israel, for their elders and for their heads, and for their judges and for their officers, and said to them, "I am old and well advanced in years.

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶת כׇּל שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל שְׁכֶמָה וַיִּקְרָא לְזִקְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּלְרָאשָׁיו וּלְשֹׁפְטָיו וּלְשֹׁטְרָיו וַיִּתְיַצְּבוּ לִפְנֵי הָאֱלֹהִים.

And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.
184. וַיֹּאמֶר
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶל כׇּל הָעָם כֹּה אָמַר
יְהֹוָהי״י אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּעֵבֶר הַנָּהָר יָשְׁבוּ אֲבוֹתֵיכֶם מֵעוֹלָם תֶּרַח אֲבִי אַבְרָהָם וַאֲבִי נָחוֹר וַיַּעַבְדוּ אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים.

And Joshua said to all the people, "Thus says Hashem, the God of Israel, 'Your fathers dwelled of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor; and they served other gods.

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶל הָעָם לֹא תוּכְלוּ לַעֲבֹד אֶת
יְהֹוָהי״י כִּי אֱלֹהִים קְדֹשִׁים הוּא אֵל קַנּוֹא הוּא לֹא יִשָּׂא לְפִשְׁעֲכֶם וּלְחַטֹּאותֵיכֶם.

And Joshua said to the people, "You cannot serve Hashem, for He is a holy God, He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgression nor your sins.

יְהֹוָהי״י נַעֲבֹד.

And the people said to Joshua, "No; but we will serve Hashem."

יְהֹוָהי״י לַעֲבֹד אוֹתוֹ וַיֹּאמְרוּ עֵדִים.

And Joshua said to the people, "You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen Hashem, to serve Him. — And they said, "We are witnesses." —

יְהֹוָהי״י אֱלֹהֵינוּ נַעֲבֹד וּבְקוֹלוֹ נִשְׁמָע.

And the people said to Joshua, "Hashem our God we will serve, and His voice we will heed."
189. וַיִּכְרֹת
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בְּרִית לָעָם בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא וַיָּשֶׂם לוֹ חֹק וּמִשְׁפָּט בִּשְׁכֶם.

So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and he set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.
190. וַיִּכְתֹּב
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶת הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה בְּסֵפֶר תּוֹרַת אֱלֹהִים וַיִּקַּח אֶבֶן גְּדוֹלָה וַיְקִימֶהָ שָּׁם תַּחַת הָאַלָּה אֲשֶׁר בְּמִקְדַּשׁ
יְהֹוָהי״י.

And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God; and he took a great stone and set it up there under the oak that was by the sanctuary of Hashem.
191. וַיֹּאמֶר
יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֶל כׇּל הָעָם הִנֵּה הָאֶבֶן הַזֹּאת תִּהְיֶה בָּנוּ לְעֵדָה כִּי הִיא שָׁמְעָה אֵת כׇּל אִמְרֵי
יְהֹוָהי״י אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר עִמָּנוּ וְהָיְתָה בָכֶם לְעֵדָה פֶּן תְּכַחֲשׁוּן בֵּאלֹהֵיכֶם.
